Position Statement

Dentists are the only professionals qualified by educational preparation to provide a comprehensive diagnosis of oral health status and to plan, render, prescribe and/or manage specific aspects of care and treatment. Comprehensive patient oral health care cannot be achieved without coordination by the dentist. Services provided by other oral health care occupations are components of comprehensive oral health care and should not be offered in isolation.
